UK Launch of Essence Make-Up

Essence make-up has been around overseas since 2002 but has only recently been launched in the UK. Unfortunately I was unable to make it to their launch party but I was kindly sent a selection of Essence make-up to try. My first impressions of Essence is good, the products and packaging remind me a bit of Rimmel London and I feel they are aimed at girls aged 12-18 although they would suit anyone looking for make-up on a budget. I will be reviewing 3 Essence make-up products today, and I have another couple of items (including a glitter nail varnish) that I will be reviewing over the coming weeks. The first product that I tried was Essence Pureskin Anti-Spot Moisturizing Make-Up*, a light foundation designed to help fight spots and blackheads which contains Clearderm Complex that fights spots and also zinc and bisabolol which help speed up the healing process. Don’t worry, I’m not going to post every time I read a book (I read a lot!) but I’ve just finished reading ‘The Last Summer’ by Judith Kinghorn and I loved it so much I wanted to recommend it. It’s not the type of book I would normally choose to read, but I picked it up for a 50p charity donation in a pub (of all places!) and thought I would give it a go. It’s an enthralling love story, set during the time of World War 1, between a young girl from a large country house and her housekeeper’s son. It’s a story about love between different classes and all the politics that went with that back then, and set in a time of incredible hardship and loss. It’s a war story that studies its effects on the women left behind at home – something that we don’t often think about when we think about war.
