NYC – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel

NYC – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel

I have to admit I’m not too clued up on budget make-up brand NYC. You can pick up their products in most Superdrug stores for a few pounds, and last year I reviewed their Appleicious Glossy Lip Balms which I really liked. I have to admit I’m a bit put off by NYC’s packaging, I think it looks quite cheap and there are other budget beauty brands who do packaging much better. I love nude and brown lipsticks (almost as much as I love pink lipsticks!) and this one is NYC’s offering – Expert Last Lip Color in Creamy Caramel. There are around 15 different shades of Expert Last Lip Color available, and at just £1.99 each you really can’t afford not to try one! Creamy Caramel is a nutty brown shade, with a creamy texture. It’s quite a pigmented shade but it’s definitely not matt as it has a subtle sheen to it. It has a lovely creamy soft luxurious feeling when it is on the lips and...

Clarins – Lipliner Pencils in Bay Rose & Chocolate

Clarins – Lipliner Pencils in Bay Rose & Chocolate

Is it just me or are there not many reviews of lip liner pencils on blogs these days? Perhaps it’s because a lip liner pencil is just one of those things that is a necessity but isn’t very exciting? Well all that is about to change! I’m on a one-woman mission to make lip liner pencils sexy again! Starting now: I want to talk to you about these very lovely Lipliner Pencils* from Clarins in Bay Rose and Chocolate. They come packaged in the usual bright red Clarins boxes that I love so much. Both of these Lipliner Pencils have a lovely soft texture and they are enriched with Vitamin E. They glide on easily around the lip line with no dragging – there’s nothing worse than a really hard lip pencil that hurts the delicate skin around the lips. Not only can they be used as lip liners, they can also be used in place of lipstick all over the lip, the soft buttery texture means the colour...

Bobbi Brown – Blush in Slopes

Bobbi Brown – Blush in Slopes

This Bobbi Brown pressed powder Blush in the shade Slopes was given to me by a friend who had bought it and then decided it wasn’t the right shade for her. I’ve been a huge Bobbi Brown make-up fan for a long time, I love the sleek black packaging and all of the products that I’ve tried have been of a really high quality. I regularly use the Shimmer Bricks and pressed Bronzing Powder and I now have quite a collection of Bobbi Brown make-up brushes, they’re so amazingly soft! Although Bobbi Brown brush prices have risen dramatically within the last few years –  almost £40 for a Bronzer Brush, really? Slopes is a lovely natural dusky rose pink colour that gives a natural flush to the cheeks. The Bobbi Brown make-up philosophy is all around enhancing what you already have and bringing out your natural beauty, and this pressed powder blush does that perfectly. The colour is quite subtle and you will need to build it up gradually with...

Maybelline – Brow Drama in Dark Brown

Maybelline – Brow Drama in Dark Brown

Despite having blonde hair I do like to keep my eyebrows fairly dark, and my eyebrow product of choice is usually Chanel’s Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Noir Cendre (you can read my review of that product here). I like to use a pencil as it’s easy to control and you can either rub it lightly on the hairs for a subtle colour or use more pressure and actually draw the colour onto the skin. So when I saw this new product from Maybelline which is actually a mascara for the eyebrows I was intrigued as to whether it would be better than a pencil or not. The Maybelline Brow Drama looks just like any normal mascara, except that the brush has a large bulbous end which you use to brush through the eyebrow hairs and deposit the mascara onto them. The brush is very stiff and spiky too, and I did find it quite difficult to just apply the product to the hairs and not smudge it all around...

Cocoa Brown – Lovely Legs Spray & Tough Stuff

Cocoa Brown – Lovely Legs Spray & Tough Stuff

I was recently sent these Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter tanning goodies to try out – the package included Lovely Legs Spray*, a sachet of Tough Stuff* scrub and a Self Tan Applicator Mitt*. Lovely Legs Spray is an instant wash-off tan, and I have to admit I’ve always been nervous about using wash-off tan products – I always have nightmares about getting stuck in a rain shower and ending up with tan streaked legs! However, this product is labelled as water-resistant so I was interested to see how well it held up. Lovely Legs Spray – as I’ve already mentioned Lovely Legs Spray is a spray-on instant wash-off tan ‘make-up’. It is marketed as being perfect for legs but I guess it could be used on any area of your body – I have also been using it on my arms – but just be careful to avoid any area that could be rubbed by clothing as it could come off. The best way to use it is...

MUA – Eyeshadow Trio in Legendary

MUA – Eyeshadow Trio in Legendary

A couple of months ago I purchased a huge MUA make-up haul, and included within it was this Trio Eyeshadow in Legendary. I really love MUA’s budget make-up and it’s great for trying out new colours and trends if you don’t want to shell out a lot of money. Want to see what else I bought in my MUA haul? Have a look here. This MUA Eyeshadow Trio palette consists of three eyeshadow colours – a dark pinky brown powder shadow with ripples of chocolate brown running through it, a pinky peach powder shadow with undertones of gold and finally a pale cream coloured powder shadow with ripples of pink and chocolate running through it. The rippled colour effects remind me a bit of ice cream! Nestled inside the palette there is also a small double-ended foam applicator – I don’t usually mind using these applicators as I find you get less powder drop-off than from a brush, but the thin end on this one is very difficult to...

MUA – Undressed Eyeshadow Palette

MUA – Undressed Eyeshadow Palette

I know what you’re thinking… ‘Not another review of MUA’s Undressed Eyeshadow Palette…’. Well yes, apologies, it is another review of MUA’s bestselling Undressed Eyeshadow Palette, but I’ve tried to make this review a bit different from everyone else’s by actually creating 3 different looks using the palette. I think the reason that this palette has been reviewed so much is firstly because it is just such great value and everyone can afford to buy it, and secondly because it contains such a great array of neutral colours. The Undressed palette contains 12 round eyeshadows in a range of nude beiges, browns and greys with a mixture of shimmery and matt finishes, and a small double ended sponge applicator (I know some people don’t like sponge applicators, but I don’t mind them and I find you get less powder ‘drop off’ with a sponge applicator than you do with a brush). The shadows are all named ‘Shade 1, Shade 2….’ etc which is an MUA trait that I’m not...

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #3

The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick #3

Welcome to the third episode of ‘The hunt for the perfect pink lipstick’! I am on the hunt… the hunt for the perfect pink lipstick that is ‘MLBB’ or ‘my lips but better’. You know, the sort of colour that looks from a distance like you’re not wearing lipstick, like you just have naturally pink, plump perfect lips. The sort of colour you can just slick on from the tube and doesn’t need painstaking application with liner and lipbrush. The sort of colour that looks like ‘my lips, but better’. This is the third lipstick that I have tested during my hunt, Mineral Lipstick in Runway Pink from budget New York make-up brand e.l.f. (stands for Eyes Lips Face), and it is the first natural mineral lipstick that I have tried. Mineral products are made using 100% natural oils and minerals and contain no chemical additives, no parabens and only natural dyes, so they cause no long-term threat to your health. I would say that Runway Pink is more...
