White & Glitter Nails

White & Glitter Nails

I purchased Barry M’s Matt White Nail Paint ages ago but thought it looked a bit stark worn on its own (it looks a little bit like you’ve painted your nails in Tipp-Ex if you don’t do it really neatly!). So I decided to pair it up with a glitter polish to create a vivid sparkly effect. I decided to use Diamond Arcade from Nails Inc, one of the most vibrant and sparkly glitter polishes that I’ve tried. Nails Inc called it a ‘Nail Jewellery Top Coat’ and when the light catches the glitter particles it really can look like you’re wearing jewellery on your nails! First I painted 2 coats of the Barry M Matt White Nail Paint over my nails and left to dry. It very opaque and works really well as a base colour – it would also work well as part of a French manicure or to create white accents in a nail art design. Then I painted a coat of the Nails Inc Diamond Arcade...

Barry M – Strawberry Ice Cream Nail Paint

Barry M – Strawberry Ice Cream Nail Paint

I think this Barry M Nail Paint in Strawberry Ice Cream has just become one of my favourites! It’s such a pretty pink, perfect for Spring. The nail paint applies fairly thinly – in the image above I have applied two coats, and I think I might try adding a third to give a stronger colour – but on the plus side each thin coat dries really quickly. It is also quite glossy and doesn’t really need a top coat, although you could apply one if you wanted extra shine. It removes really easily from the nails too, just a couple of quick swipes with a cotton wool pad soaked in nail polish remover and it’s gone! Strawberry Ice Cream is a really pretty sugary pink colour, it’s so pretty and girly. It’s been around for ages, I think it’s one of Barry M’s original nail paint colours, but I’ve only just discovered it! I love the range of colours available from Barry M, there’s a shade of Nail Paint for every occasion, and...

Purple Glitter Christmas Nails

Purple Glitter Christmas Nails

I created this Purple Glitter Christmas nail look all ready for the big day. I love warm berry nail colours in Winter and you can’t beat a bit of sparkle too for Christmas! The purple shade is Zoya Odette* – a sultry orchid maroon cream – I predicted it’s going to be a popular shade next Spring/Summer in my London Fashion Week post that I published in September, but I think it’s also just as good as a Winter nail polish. Zoya offers a huge range of toxin-free nail polishes (there are over 300 shades to choose from) free of the top 5 toxins usually found in nail polishes – formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, dibutyl phthalate and camphor – that are thought to contribute to cancer and birth defects. I painted on 2 coats of Zoya Odette, it’s fairly pigmented and dark so you don’t need any more coats. You do need to apply it carefully though as any smudges really show up given that it’s such a dark shade. The glitter...

Barry M – Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Lady

Barry M – Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Lady

This is my third and final review of Barry M’s Textured Glitter Nail Paint. I have recently reviewed the golden Majesty shade (you can read that review here) and the pink Princess shade (you can read that review here). Today I am reviewing the white Lady shade, and I have to say I think it’s my favourite out of the three! I absolutely adore a good glitter nail polish, and I rate them on how dense the glitter is. Some glittery polishes look amazing in the bottle, but then when you paint them onto the nails they look sad and washed out, and you need at least 4 coats to get a good glittery coverage… not so with these Textured Glitter Nail Paints from Barry M! After just one coat the nail is covered with glitter and it’s really sparkly and dense. Lady is a pale creamy white colour with a gold shimmer undertone.  The image above shows how it looks after just 2 coats. The white and golden...

Barry M – Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Princess

Barry M – Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Princess

I recently reviewed Barry M Textured Glitter Nail Paint in Majesty (you can read that review here) and I loved it so much that I then went out and bought it in 2 more shades! I absolutely adore a good glitter nail polish, and I rate them on how dense the glitter is. Some glittery polishes look amazing in the bottle, but then when you paint them onto the nails they look sad and washed out, and you need at least 4 coats to get a good glittery coverage… not so with Textured Glitter Nail Paints from nail polish gurus Barry M! After just one coat the nail is covered with glitter and it’s so sparkly. Princess is a lovely pale pink colour with a gold shimmer and silver glitter. I don’t think the colour is as vivid as the gold Majesty colour, but it’s really pretty and ladylike. The image above shows how it looks after just 2 coats. The silver glitter particles are very small and densely...

Pink Sparkle Nail Art

Pink Sparkle Nail Art

Welcome to another nail art post! I created this look using Barry M ‘Magenta Glitter’ Nail Paint and MUA Nail Polish in ‘Natural Days’. I just love Natural Days, it’s such a pretty, pale baby pink, if you want to see what it looks like on its own, have a look at my review here. Barry M’s Magenta Glitter is a very intense fuchsia pink colour, that contains mainly fine flecks of glitter but does have a few larger blobs of glitter in too. First I painted 2 thick coats of the Natural Days pale baby pink polish over my nails and left to dry. Then I painted a thin coat of Magenta Glitter at the base of my nail to about halfway up each nail. After this coat had dried I painted another coat of the glitter nail paint, this time from the base to only about one third of the way up each nail, this way it gives a gentle graded effect to the glitter. I finished with a...

Barry M – Pink Glitter Tip Nail Art

Barry M – Pink Glitter Tip Nail Art

Welcome to another nail art post! I created this look using two of my favourite Barry M nail paints – ‘Lychee’ which is part of the Gelly effects collection and the very sparkly ‘Magenta Glitter’. Lychee is a perfect nude colour to use as a base for nail art, allowing other colours and glitters to stand out over the top of it. If you want to see what Lychee looks like on its own, have a look here. Magenta Glitter is a very intense fuchsia pink colour, that contains mainly fine flecks of glitter but does have a few larger blobs of glitter in too. First I painted 2 thick coats of the Lychee Gelly nail paint over my nails and left to dry. Then I painted a thin coat of Magenta Glitter over the top to about halfway down each nail. After this coat had dried I painted another coat of the glitter nail paint, this time only about one third of the way down each nail, this way it...

Barry M – Lychee Gelly Nail Paint

Barry M – Lychee Gelly Nail Paint

I am currently wearing this Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Lychee and I think it is just so classy! I bought it in my Barry M Nail Paint Haul a few weeks ago, but this is the first time I have tried it out. I chose Lychee as I thought it looked like the perfect base for nail art, but now that I have applied it I love it on its own too. The Gelly nail paint applies fairly well – in the image above I have applied two quite thick coats. It is also really glossy as it is in the Gelly collection and doesn’t really need a top coat, although you could apply one if you wanted extra shine and protection. The colour is a really creamy neutral beige colour – and it looks great with a tan. I think it will still look really nice and classy in Winter too, so not just a Summer colour. I also find that Barry M nail paints are...
