Have you tried this cult lip balm?

Have you tried this cult lip balm?

So before I launch into my review of this lip balm I just wanted to give readers a quick update on why my blog has been so quiet for the past couple of weeks. Don’t worry, I haven’t gone anywhere! Since having my baby daughter last September spare time has been quite limited for me so I’ve had to carefully balance my time and squeeze in the taking of blog photos and writing of blog posts between nappy changes, feeds and cuddles. Then a couple of weeks ago I volunteered to help out a local charity with the revamp of their website – it needed a bit more work than I had originally anticipated so most of my free time over the past week or so has been taken up with that. Anyway, I’ve got a bit of a backlog of beauty products to review and I’m trying to fit in blogging where I can, but I’ll be back up to full speed very soon, you’ll just have to bear...

The lip balm that tastes good enough to eat!

The lip balm that tastes good enough to eat!

I picked up this cute Bee Good Raspberry & White Chocolate Lip Balm* in my goody bag from a recent blogger event that I attended in Leeds, the #LeedsMarchMeet. It was a social meeting for bloggers who live in the Leeds area and the aim was to raise money and collect donations for a local foodbank. I had a great time at #LeedsMarchMeet, it’s always nice to meet other bloggers – they’re such a friendly bunch! We also got crafty making our own name badges and feasted on sweets and tasty homemade cakes. There were several health and beauty goodies in my goody bag including this lip balm from Bee Good. The brand was created in 2008 by a Hampshire beekeeper and his wife when they were looking to find uses for excess honey and beeswax from their bees. The brand has leaping bunny status, meaning that their products aren’t tested on animals, and the natural ingredients of the lip balm include British beeswax, Vitamin E, Borage Oil and Echium...

Roger & Gallet – Precious Revitalizing Balm

Roger & Gallet – Precious Revitalizing Balm

Roger & Gallet are really good at taking one of their fragrances and then developing lots of bodycare products around it. They’ve recently released a new collection of moisturising body balms in three of their bestselling fragrances – Fleur d’Osmanthus, Fleur de Figuier and Rose. This trio of balms has been created to nourish and cocoon the skin in comfort whilst adding a gentle scent. I was sent the Precious Revitalizing Balm in the Fleur d’Osmanthus* to try out. Roger & Gallet suggest that the Fleur d’Osmanthus fragrance ‘transports you into a Chinese Garden of Eden’, it’s made up of the scent of the Osmanthus flower plus mandarin, grapefruit and benzoin essential oils. It’s quite a floral bouquet with a note of white tea. Personally it’s not my favourite of Roger & Gallet’s scents, it’s a bit too floral and Summery for me. My first observation was that the fragrance is quite strong with this body balm so it’s perfect for layering with the other products in this collection – including the Sorbet...

The Balm – Mary-Lou Manizer

The Balm – Mary-Lou Manizer

I have a bit of an addiction to highlighting powders and I’m currently searching for the perfect one. I want something really pale and shimmery, that’s buttery soft and easy to blend, with no pink or bronze tones to it. Several other beauty bloggers had recommended The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer to me so I thought it was about time I tried it. If you’ve never heard of The Balm it’s a cult US brand of make-up that doesn’t take itself too seriously. All the products have quirky tongue-in-cheek names and are decorated with cool pop-art style portraits – think the US version of Soap & Glory! Mary-Lou Manizer is a luminizing pressed powder with a gentle honey hue as you can see from the swatch image below. It gently diffuses light giving your skin a soft, subtle glow. It’s one of the paler highlighting powders that I’ve tried which I like. The packaging is quirky and depicts a mugshot of Mary-Lou who has been arrested for being too pretty and too...

Don’t let the cold hold you back!

Don’t let the cold hold you back!

A couple of weeks before Christmas I was lucky enough to receive a parcel of skincare goodies from Badger Balm. Badger Balm is a family business, started in the USA in 1995, that makes organic cruelty-free skincare products and balms. I love their ethics and I’ve previously reviewed a couple of their balms before – I use Badger Sleep Balm every night to help me get to sleep. I was so excited to receive this package, it felt like Christmas had come early! Nestled inside the box were three tins of Badger’s famous balms, plus a Lip Balm and a bottle of Hair Oil. All of the items are recommended to help protect your skin and body from the cold Winter weather and to help soothe and calm. Badger Sleep Balm* – this is a relaxing natural balm with a blend of essential oils that help to soothe you to sleep. I’ve already reviewed this product here and I use it every night! Badger Balm for Hardworking Hands* –...

Burt’s Bees – Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate

Burt’s Bees – Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate

Burt’s Bees was one of the very first natural skincare brands that I fell in love with, and since then I’ve reviewed a few of their products including this Lip Shimmer in Guava. Their lip balms are my absolute favourite, they’re made with 100% natural ingredients such as beeswax and natural oils and don’t make my lips feel sticky. I was recently sent this Burt’s Bees Revitalizing Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate* to try out and I absolutely love it! The chocolatey fragrance really comes through and it actually makes me want to eat chocolate when I apply it (not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!). I love to go walking and this lip balm really prevents my lips from chapping in this wet and windy weather that we’ve been having recently. Burt’s Bees Revitalizing Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate is the perfect low-calorie chocolatey treat and at just £3.99 each a Burt’s Bees Lip Balm in any flavour would make a perfect stocking...

Paul & Joe – Autumn 2015 Lip Treatment Balm

Paul & Joe – Autumn 2015 Lip Treatment Balm

Just a quick review today on this very cute little tin of Lip Treatment Balm* from Paul & Joe Beaute. This is a limited edition product, part of their Autumn 2015 collection. I just love the bee and flower print on the little round tin, it’s so cute and bees are so popular at the moment. One of the reasons it has bees on is that the ingredients include Honey and Ginger. There is also another limited edition variant of the Lip Treatment Balm that contains Earl Grey Tea, Bergamot and Lemon, and the tin is decorated in a floral design. Other ingredients include Olive Oil and Lavender Oil to help hydrate the lips and lock in moisture. This will be a great little product for Winter, I like to go out walking in the cold weather so I’ll be able to keep this in my pocket to prevent my lips from getting chapped. The product itself is a translucent honey coloured balm, very different from your usual opaque...

Sleek – Candy Tint Lip Balms

Sleek – Candy Tint Lip Balms

Sleek Makeup is is one of my favourite high street brands and I was so pleased when they asked me if I’d like to try out their new Candy Tint Lip Balms. Formulated with Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E to provide long lasting hydration these tinted lip balms are a cross between a lipstick and a lip treatment balm. The ingredients also include vitamins A and C which help to protect the delicate lips from free radicals and SPF 15 to help shield the lips from the sun in all weathers. Available in six candy shades, I’ve been trying out Sherbet, Cherry Drop and Tutti Fruity: Sherbet is a nude peach shade and probably the colour that I was initially most drawn to. I like neutral lips and this gives your pout a natural hint of colour with a good gloss. Perfect for those ‘no make-up’ make-up looks. I was a bit scared of raspberry red Cherry Drop when I first laid eyes on it, I usually steer clear of red...
