Happy New Year from Beauty Best Friend!

Happy New Year from Beauty Best Friend!

So, 2014 was a really great year for me blog-wise, it was the year that Beauty Best Friend really took off and the year that I started loving writing again. I wrote and posted over 180 product reviews, and I’ve received so many lovely comments about my posts and my blog – it’s what makes it all worthwhile! I’ve started to build up relationships with some great PRs too and been asked to write reviews of some fantastic brands. Whilst the freebies are certainly not what I started blogging for I really love it when I am asked to try out a new brand or product that I haven’t heard of  – particularly those containing natural or organic ingredients – and I find that it is truly amazing. Some of my favourite new brands that I discovered in 2014 include Botanicals, Urban Veda, Bee Good and Zoya Nail Polishes. So, what can you expect from Beauty Best Friend blog in 2015? Zoya – Pixie Dust Nail Polish in Arlo

Zoya – Pixie Dust Nail Polish in Arlo

Another nail polish review for you today, this one is Pixie Dust glitter nail polish in Arlo*, from Zoya. Zoya offers a huge range of toxin-free nail polishes (there are over 300 shades to choose from) free of the top 5 toxins usually found in nail polishes – formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, dibutyl phthalate and camphor – that are thought to cause cancer and birth defects. Pixie Dust is Zoya’s range of glitter nail polishes, and Arlo is a slightly translucent pinky mauve shade. It contains silver holographic glitter flecks in 3 sizes, and I really think it could be the glitteriest sparkliest nail varnish that I have tried. The glitter is really dense and almost covers the whole of the nail after just a couple of coats, the only downside is that it makes the nail feel extremely rough, although you could add a top coat of two of clear varnish over the top which might help a little bit. I thought that this nail polish might not...

Paul & Joe Beaute – Cheek Color & Compact Case

Paul & Joe Beaute – Cheek Color & Compact Case

I do love make-up that looks beautiful in its packaging, and there is no brand more pretty that Paul & Joe Beaute. Their limited edition feline and floral packaging is second to none with many pieces being so beautiful that you just want to admire them and almost don’t want to use them. A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to Cheek Color 10 (Ombrage) and the Spring 2014 Collection Kitten Print Compact Case (number 002). Shade 10 was the most natural of the Cheek Colors that I could find, it is a pressed powder blusher that consists of a large rose-pink section and a thinner tan colour strip. I love the fact that the pressed powder has the Paul & Joe ‘PJ’ logo imprinted into it, I think it makes it looks really classy. You can see the Cheek Color shades really clearly from the close-up image above. The tan strip of colour has a feint shimmer to it, you can see the glittery particles shining. The...
