Save The Blow Dry – Turquoise Shower Cap
A few months ago I was lucky enough to be able to try out and review a revolutionary new shower cap, Save The Blow Dry. Dubbed ‘the queen of shower caps’ the new quirky pink bathroom accessory had been developed to zap humidity and condensation, bathroom-proofing hair to leave it dry and bouncy. Plus, this new shower cap is large enough to protect even the longest and thickest of styles. You can read my full review of Save The Blow Dry here.
So, “What’s new?” I hear you ask. Well, the lovely people over at Save The Blow Dry have only gone and made their ground-breaking shower cap in turquoise!!
The image above shows the new turquoise Save The Blow Dry shower cap* in all it’s glory. It’s a lovely bright colour and perfect for anyone who doesn’t like pink, or even men who want to protect their perfectly blow-dried styles whilst in the shower.
Now there’s no point in me going over old ground, I’ve already spoken about the benefits of this new product in my old review post. So today I am going to focus on the fact that you can also turn this shower cap inside out and use it over your favourite hair treatment or oil. By turning the cap inside out you end up with the protective waterproof layer on the inside, thus preventing any treatment product from sticking to the shower cap, plus it also helps to heat up the hair and scalp making sure that the treatment or oil works more effectively.
Here is my favourite recipe for a hair & scalp treatment oil:
- 20ml of a good-quality natural oil (e.g. almond oil) – you can even use Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 drop of tea tree oil
- 1 drop of peppermint oil
Mix the above ingredients together in a small bowl, then gently massage them onto your scalp using your fingers. Once you have thoroughly covered your scalp massage the rest of the oil into your hair, it will help to moisturise and deep-condition. You may want to apply the treatment oil with your head over the bath or sink to catch any drips of oil.
Once you have used up all of the oil treatment turn your Save The Blow Dry shower cap inside out and put it over your head. The shower cap will prevent oil from dripping off your hair onto your clothes, plus it will help your scalp to heat up a little bit and give the oil treatment a bit of a helping hand. If you don’t have a plastic shower cap you could also use cling film.
After leaving for 15-30 minutes wash your hair as normal to remove all of the oil treatment. You may need to use a bit more shampoo than usual as your hair will be extra-oily, gently massage the shampoo into your hair and scalp until you can no longer feel any oiliness. Condition your hair as usual.
The tea tree oil helps to heal infections and reduce itchiness, plus the peppermint oil invigorates the scalp and helps to reduce dandruff. Alternatively you could use lavender oil (good for an oily or dry scalp) or lemon oil (helps to add shine to blonde hair).
So there you go, the many uses of Save The Blow Dry shower cap!
Save The Blow Dry is comes in pink or turquoise and is priced at £14.95, available from Save The Blow Dry.
