Nailed London – Gel Wear Nail Polishes

These are the lovely new Gel Wear polishes* from Nailed London, a new brand launched in September 2015 by Made In Chelsea’s fashion blogger Rosie Fortescue. OK so I have to admit I’m not really down with ‘MIC’ so when I first heard about these polishes I thought they might be a bit of a gimmick, but as soon as I received them I could see that they’re great quality and hopefully the brand is here to stay.
There are 28 different shades to choose from, and 4 glitter top coats plus the Base Coat and clear Glossy Top Coat that give these colours their gel finish.
The three shades that I’ve been using are:
- Stormy Violets – a shimmery metallic dusky blue shade that looks great dressed down with jeans
- Chica Bonita – a snow white that looks chic on its own, plus it provides the perfect matt background to bright nail art
- Citron-Ella – a zesty primrose yellow that will be perfect for Spring
I’ve been wearing Chica Bonita and Citron-Ella on alternate fingers for the past week, I love the freshness of the zingy colours and it’s been making me feel like Spring is really on the way (well, until the snow came this morning!).
I’m not sure that the polishes look just like gels as they don’t have that thick chunky look to them, but where they do mimic gel polishes is in how long they last – I’ve had them on my nails for 9 days now and there is absolutely NO chipping to the tips!
To take full advantage of the gel effect you need to first apply the Base Coat which acts like a primer to protect your nails and help the colour adhere. Then apply your chosen colour – the polishes are quite runny and watery so I’d recommend applying 3 coats for a flawless finish (particularly with the paler shades). Finish off with a nice thick coating of the Glossy Top Coat to give a gel-shine to your manicure and cure the polish providing a hard-as-nails finish!
The Nailed London polishes have a nice wide brush making it easy to apply the colour to the whole nail in just a few strokes, they remind me a bit of Essie brushes.
There are some fabulous shades available in the Nailed London polishes, Rosie has done a great job in picking trends from the Spring Summer 16 catwalk and translating these into nail colours. The colours that I’d like to try next are Sugar Lips – a soft baby pink – and Coral Chameleon – a zingy orange shade perfect for the warmer months.
If you’re a fan of long-lasting gel nails but don’t like the cost of having them done professionally or the time it takes to cure the manicure then I’d definitely recommend this range. There’s no hassle of UV-curing, just paint on your polishes like you would with a regular polish and it lasts for ages!
