JASON Power Smile Toothpaste Review

As regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know I’m a big fan of natural beauty products, but I’ve never actually tried a natural toothpaste. When you think about it it’s really important that we know what ingredients are in our toothpastes as they go in our mouths and therefore a small percentage will end up in our stomachs – imagine just how much toothpaste you actually swallow throughout your whole lifetime!

I was sent this Powersmile Toothpaste* from natural care brand JASON to try out. The word ‘jason’ means ‘healer’ in Greek and the brand only selects wholesome natural ingredients for its products. Their range is free from parabens, mineral oils and sodium laureth sulfates, plus the toothpaste is fluoride-free too. Did you know that ingesting fluoride has been linked to neurological disorders and IQ deficiencies in children? And yet it is in our toothpastes and added to our drinking water! Many believe that the benefits of fluoride far outweigh the dangers, but if you want to try and avoid it then choosing a fluoride-free toothpaste is a good start.

JASON Power Smile Toothpaste

JASON Powersmile Toothpaste is quite a thick creamy coloured paste, the texture reminds me a bit of a thick face mask! The Powerful Peppermint flavour is lovely, it’s minty fresh but not sweet like regular toothpastes and it leaves a gentle mint fragrance in my mouth after brushing.

The ingredients include bamboo powder, calcium carbonate and baking soda, plus natural peppermint oil. Despite not containing a lot of the same chemicals as supermarket toothpastes this product still promises to prevent tartar build-up, brighten teeth and freshen breath.

JASON Power Smile Toothpaste

Powersmile Toothpaste feels very much like a regular toothpaste when you use it, it froths normally and rinses away. But where I think this natural toothpaste is better than other toothpastes is how my teeth feel after brushing – they’re so smooth and shiny, as if I’ve just had my teeth cleaned by the hygienist at the dentist! Plus if I clean my teeth with JASON Powersmile at night my teeth still feel squeaky clean in the morning when I wake up!

I’ve been using this toothpaste for just over a week now and I can honestly say that I won’t be going back to my usual Colgate now! This is the best toothpaste that I’ve tried and I love the way that it makes my teeth and mouth feel. I’ll be encouraging my baby daughter to use this when we start brushing her teeth in a few months too (she’s only five months old now and hasn’t started teething yet).

At £4.89 per tube it may seem quite expensive but the chunky tube holds 85g of product so it’ll last longer than the skinny tubes of Colgate and Aquafresh.

JASON Powersmile Toothpaste is priced at £4.89 for 85g, available from Nutricentre.
