Clarins – Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base
Another Clarins review for you today, and this one’s a bit of a luxury. It’s a recent addition to their Instant Light range, called Radiance Boosting Complexion Base*, aimed at illuminating and correcting the skin prior to applying your foundation. It comes in 3 shades and I’ve been testing out the Rose shade, which has been developed for all skin shades to help brighten the complexion.
Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base is a lightweight cream with a floral rose scent and comes in a pump tube so it’s really easy and non-messy to dispense. It can be applied directly to the skin before applying foundation, or it can also be mixed with a liquid or cream foundation to add a shimmer and lightness to the base product. You can also apply it to the skin on its own, on non-make-up days, to just give the skin some brightness and lift, and it feels cool and freshening on the skin when you first apply it.
I’ve been using this product for a couple of weeks now. I do like it, it feels really nice on my skin and it definitely lightens and brightens, but I find it works best when mixed with a liquid or cream foundation. If I apply it to my skin before my foundation I’m not sure that the brightening effect always shows up, but then I do quite often use a thick mineral powder foundation which possibly stops the Radiance Boosting Complexion Base from showing through. I also like to use a little on my bare skin when I’m not wearing make-up, it just gives skin a little lift and makes me look a little more healthy!
You can see the lightening shimmering effect that this Instant Light lotion gives the skin from the swatch image below. I haven’t blended it in very well otherwise the camera won’t pick it up.
I’m not sure Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base is a must-have product, it’s more of a luxury – something that you might buy to treat yourself. I’d definitely recommend wearing it under a very light base, or mixing it with your liquid/cream foundation, to make the most of the brightening effect. Going forward I probably won’t wear it every day, but it’s great for no make-up days, or for big nights out when you want a bit of an extra boost.
The 2 other shades are Champagne which corrects redness and Peach which restores lustre to medium and matte skin.
Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base is priced at £26.50 for 30ml, available from Clarins.
