So welcome to the next big thing in luxury make-up…. it’s Charlotte Tilbury! Products that have been designed to look as good in your handbag as they do on your face, you’ll never be ashamed to get these out in public for a quick make-up touch-up!
I treated myself to this Luxury Palette and K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick with some money that I received for Christmas and I haven’t been disappointed. Read on to find out what I think…
Luxury Palette in The Uptown Girl – in each Luxury Palette there are 4 co-ordinating eyeshadows that can take you from desk, through to dusk and on to the disco! There’s a short video on the Charlotte Tilbury website that shows how to apply the eyeshadows to create three different looks – a subtle one for daytime, a slightly smokier look for evening and then a full-on sparkle-fest for the nightclub. To be honest I’m a sucker for sparkle so I usually go for this last one no matter what time of day it is!
I chose The Uptown Girl palette which is described as having ‘champagne, oyster and smoky grey hues’. You apply the four shades in the same order as the swatch image above, from left to right. Firstly you apply the shimmery champagne shade all over the eyelid and right up to the brow, this shade lights up the eye area and also acts a bit like a primer. Secondly you smudge the paler of the two grey shades into the eye socket and also along the top and bottom lashlines. You can leave it there if you want for daytime, or you can then use the darkest grey shade to add some shadow to the outer corner of the eyelid in a half-moon shape and also darken up those smudges along the lashlines. If you want to go the whole hog for a party look you then apply a pop of the glittery pink shadow to the middle of the eyelid – I find that using your finger is the best way to apply it exactly where you want and prevent any glitter from dropping off onto your cheeks.
This is what it looks like when you’ve finished! All four of the shadows apply really nicely, and it’s great to have seen how they can be used in Charlotte’s video before you use the palette yourself.
There are 9 different colourways to choose from with the Luxury Palette. I also fancy trying The Rebel which is full of green shadows and The Golden Goddess made up of browns and bronzes.
K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick in Bitch Perfect – these lipsticks all have really sassy names, such as Stoned Rose and Nude Kate. I went for Bitch Perfect which is a beautiful creamy nude shade and it makes me feel confident when I wear it – I’m not sure if it’s the actual shade of the lipstick or just that I know what it’s called and a little bit of that ‘Bitch Perfect’ness rubs off on me!
Here you can see what Bitch Perfect looks like on my lips. It feels buttery soft when you apply it and gives a soft matt finish – it’s not very glossy. I’d recommend applying it with a lip brush to get an even finish. Here I’m wearing it with Clarins Bay Rose Lipliner Pencil, which isn’t actually a very good match. Can anyone recommend a great nude lip pencil that would go with this K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick?
The packaging of both the lipstick and the eyeshadow palette are truly beautiful. I love the gold, it makes such a difference to the usual black palettes and lipsticks, and it gives the products an air of real quality. All Charlotte Tilbury make-up comes in a maroon card box too that has been highlighted with gold, very simple and unfussy but classy.
I absolutely love both of these products, I’ve been using them loads since I purchased them and I can see that they’ll both become staple items in my make-up bag. They’re not cheap, probably on a par with the cost of Chanel make-up, but the quality is second to none – I’ll definitely be checking out some more Charlotte Tilbury stuff soon.
