How to design your blogger business cards

How to design your blogger business cards

“Hi, my name’s Laura and I’m a beauty blogger”… *hands out a business card* This has been me ever since I received these amazing business cards* from Aura Print last week! Over the past year I’ve been attending blogger events and handing out my own handmade business cards that I made using a heart stamp and coloured pens – creative and fun but not very professional. So when I was contacted by Aura Print to see if I wanted my very own high quality printed business cards I jumped at the chance. Aura Print is an online print specialist based in Huddersfield (not too far from me, I’m in York) and I love to work with local businesses whenever possible. As well as business cards they offer a huge range of flyers, stickers, PVC banners and other printed media. So if you’re a blogger and thinking of designing or ordering some business cards of your own what do you need to consider? You want your logo or some other...

Merry Christmas from Beauty Best Friend!

Merry Christmas from Beauty Best Friend!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of my readers and to wish you all a big Merry Christmas! I know I’m a few days early but I’m taking a couple of weeks break from blogging over the festive period. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in September, and whilst motherhood has actually been easier (so far!) than I expected it to be I still need a bit of time to recharge my batteries. Plus, I want to completely immerse myself in her first Christmas and spend lots of time with family and friends without having to think about where my next blog post is coming from! 2015 has been a very special year for me – I’ve become a mummy and my blog is becoming more and more popular. I hope that 2016 will be just as good! I’ll be back in the New Year with lots of new blog posts, product reviews and useful beauty tips. Until then, have a very Merry...

Valley Mill – Soy Wax Melts & Natural Soap

Valley Mill – Soy Wax Melts & Natural Soap

I love natural bodycare and room fragrance, and if it’s handmade in the UK then all the better! Valley Mill make a wide range of natural products in Wales and they also sell a selection of quality homeware products from other like-minded Welsh manufacturers. They sent me this Natural Soap* and a pack of their Natural Soy Wax Melts* to try out… Valley Mill Natural Soap with Grapefruit & Fennel – these soaps are made with 100% natural Shea Butter and Coconut Oil in Wales. I chose the Grapefruit & Fennel one as I thought it sounded lovely and zesty, there are 5 other variations including Orange & Cinnamon which would be great for Christmas time. The soap is very rustic looking with rough edges and blemished surface but this adds to the handmade charm. It’s made in a block of two colours – dark brown at the top and green on the bottom. I think it looks a bit like a huge piece of fudge! It has a...

SWIG Hip Flask

SWIG Hip Flask

Yes, I know, you might not want to hear the C word just yet but if you’re anything like me you’ll already be planning what gifts you’re going to buy for your friends and family this Christmas. There’s always that one person on your gift list that’s really hard to buy for – either they haven’t got any interests or hobbies or they’ve already got everything they want. So when I heard about SWIG Hip Flasks I thought this would be a perfect present! A British brand set up in North London in 2013, SWIG produce luxury hip flasks that are designed to last for generations, there’s a lovely story on the SWIG website describing the trials and tribulations of setting up the business – well worth a read! I was sent the SWIG Executive Moulded Orange Flask* from the SWIG Executive range. Of course ‘orange’ describes the pouch rather than the hip flask itself – all SWIG hip flasks are made from seamless stainless steel and have a...

Magazine subscriptions from www.magazine.co.uk

Magazine subscriptions from www.magazine.co.uk

I’ve got something a bit different for you today, I want to tell you about magazine subscriptions from magazine.co.uk. If you’re anything like me you’ll be already starting to think about possible Christmas presents for friends and family, and a magazine subscription is a great option for anyone. At magazine.co.uk there are hundreds of magazines to choose from, for all ages – women’s magazines, men’s magazines, magazines for kids. No matter what they’re into there’s something they’ll love – technology, fashion, cooking, crafts, the list is endless! I’ve recently subscribed to Red magazine*, a monthly women’s mag ‘for the best things in life’. Topics include fashion, living, culture and something that’s very close to my heart – beauty! At £4 a copy of Red every month for a year would cost £48, but magazine.co.uk are offering an annual subscription for just £25! That’s not the only great offer, subscriptions to Moneywise and Auto Express start from JUST £1! Or spend just £5 for a subscription to Men’s Fitness or...

eBay Owl/Fox Handbag

eBay Owl/Fox Handbag

I just couldn’t resist sharing this cute handbag that I purchased from eBay recently! I’m not quite sure if it’s supposed to be an owl or a fox, but both are currently in fashion and I just think it’s so cute! The press stud on it’s little nose unfastens to open up the bag, and whilst there are no separate pockets inside it’s quite a decent size to fit your everyday essentials in. The strap is quite a good length, and it’s adjustable too using buckles so you could wear it across the body or over one shoulder. It looks a bit like leather although I think it’s probably made from plastic given the cheap price! But it’s good value, and it comes in 6 different colours. I went for the orange as I think that’s the most fox-like colour, but I think the brown looks good too. I’ve already had lots of positive comments when I’ve been using my fox/owl bag, it’s the perfect size to use when meeting...

Blogger Beauty Box – September 2015

Blogger Beauty Box – September 2015

The Blogger Beauty Box was set up in June 2015 when blogger Vix Meldrew decided to bring together a way of connecting beauty bloggers with brands by way of a monthly product box. Available to bloggers throughout the UK the box offers a range of skincare and make-up products and showcases brands both popular and little known. I like the fact that there is no subscription needed to take part, unlike most other beauty box schemes, and neither is there a ‘theme’ each month which I think can hold some box schemes back sometimes. September 2015 was my first Blogger Beauty Box, and here’s a sneak peek to see what was inside: My first impression was that there was a good ratio of skincare to make-up products, and whilst the box itself is a rather simple plain white cardboard affair with a sticky label on top I wasn’t made to feel like I’d just shelled out hard earned cash on a pretty cardboard box. I was also really pleased...

My Little Box – August 2015

My Little Box – August 2015

Today I have another My Little Box review for you, this one is for the August box and for once it’s on time! I received the August box last week and in my opinion it was another good one! The theme was My Little Gypset Box… I’d never heard of the word ‘gypset’ but according to the dictionary it relates to a ‘modern nomadic lifestyle’ and the products inside this month’s box are all geared around an easy lifestyle with a bohemian twist. If you’ve never heard of My Little Box it’s a quirky monthly beauty box that offers something a bit different, including their own range of make-up ‘My Little Beauty’, a proper readable mini magazine in each box, plus exciting little non-beauty extras – past examples have included jewellery, stationery and T-shirts. So, what was inside My Little Gypset Box in August….? I’ll start with the beauty products as these were my favourite items inside August’s box. There was a mini Korres Basil Lemon Body Milk, this is a...
