What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

What’s new from The Body Shop this Valentines Day?

You may have seen that a couple of weeks ago I featured the brand new Bowhanti perfume from The Body Shop® as my Perfume of The Day. Well today I’ve got a whole host of more brand news products from The Body Shop® to show you, and I think you’ll be impressed! First up is the new Almond Milk & Honey bodycare collection, newly released on Valentines Day! With almond milk from Spain and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, this range is perfect if you suffer from sensitive or dry skin. Almond oil helps to nourish whilst honey soothes, and they both smell fantastic too! I’ve been trying out four different products from the range: Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream is perfect for sensitive skin, it’s really light and much thinner and runnier than a shower gel. It has a texture similar to that of pouring cream, and it smells divine (in fact all these products smell amazing!). The scent is warm and comforting like...

Gentle skincare for you and your baby from Weleda

Gentle skincare for you and your baby from Weleda

So I’m very careful about what I use on a regular basis on my skin, and I’m even more careful about what I use on my baby daughter. OK, so she’s not really a baby any more (she’s pretty much a toddler at 16 months old) but ever since she was born I’ve checked the ingredients of all the products that I’ve used in her bath. For a long time we exclusively used Burt’s Bees products from their Baby Bee range which are great for young skin, but now I’m starting to branch out and try other products. I was sent this Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash from Weleda to try out, and the thing that got me most excited is that it doesn’t contain sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) which is the ingredient that causes a shampoo, shower gel or soap to lather. Instead of SLS this body wash uses coconut and sugar plant-based cleansers. SLS has always caused me a problem, making my skin dry and my scalp...

Perfume of the day – The Body Shop Bowhanti

Perfume of the day – The Body Shop Bowhanti

So I haven’t written one of these Perfume Of The Day posts in quite a while. That’s because I’ve been wearing Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb almost exclusively for the past couple of years, and I haven’t been trying too many new fragrances. But last week The Body Shop® sent me this brand new Eau De Parfum to try, it’s called Bowhanti and it’s described as ‘Spicy Woods’. Bowhanti is a brand new fragrance, it was only released on The Body Shop® website last week, so you’re among the first to hear about it. I’d say it’s quite a masculine fragrance, spicy and exotic. It’s inspired by an aromatic tree from French Guiana and it has a blend of patchouli and incense. Think cinnamon sticks and smoke, log fires and general mystery… The bottle is really pretty, with a square glass base made from sustainably recycled glass with a wooden cap. I really like this fragrance, it’s a bit different and perfect for the cold dark nights of Winter. I’d suggest it’s...

Make a difference with Body Butter from The Body Shop

Make a difference with Body Butter from The Body Shop

Did you know….. that The Body Shop® launched their iconic Body Butters 24 years ago with just three flavours? For almost a quarter of a century now, people have been moisturising with Body Butter, and there are now 17 fragrances to choose from. I remember discovering the Shea Body Butter when I was a teenager (I’m showing my age now!) and being really impressed with how soft and smooth my legs felt after applying it before a night out. And despite trying many other body moisturising products along the years I’ve regularly come back to the sheer richness of The Body Shop® Body Butters. Body Butters also contain natural ingredients that have been sourced through The Body Shop® unique Community Trade Programme, so each purchase helps to change the lives of communities around the world. For example, sourcing Shea Butter from Ghana has helped fund water pipes and wells, and the Argan Oil comes from co-operatives in Morocco providing their women with a fair and regular income enabling them...

The Body Shop Summer Blogger Event, York

The Body Shop Summer Blogger Event, York

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to The Body Shop Summer Blog Event at my local store in Coppergate, York. This was the second The Body Shop blogger event I have been to and I have to say that they’re so enjoyable and really well planned. This event had been organised to showcase some of the new products that The Body Shop have launched for Summer – mainly the Drops of Light skincare range and the tropical new Pinita Colada range of bodycare. Sadly my photos from the event are really lacking as my camera battery is faulty and despite charging it up before I went it went flat just fifteen minutes into the evening – so many apologies! Firstly, after enjoying a glass of fizz, we watched a facial demonstration using the new Drops of Light skincare range, the main active ingredients being Vitamin C and red algae. There are four products – Cleansing Foam, Essence Lotion, Day Cream and Serum –...

Say “Yes” to carrots!

Say “Yes” to carrots!

Just a quick review today to talk about these haircare and bodycare products from Yes to… Regular readers of Beauty Best Friend will know that I’m always looking out for new natural skincare and bodycare ranges as I’m passionate about products that don’t contain lots of nasty chemicals. Yes to… is one of these natural brands, based in California their products are always made from at least 95% natural ingredients, are free of parabens, phthalates and SLS, and made with recyclable materials. There are 6 collections, each involves saying ‘Yes to’ a different fruit or vegetable. The products I’ve been trying out are Yes to Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash* and Yes to Carrots Nourishing Shampoo and Pampering Conditioner*. Yes to Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash – the grapefruit range is aimed at those with uneven or dull skintone. This pearlised white shower gel has a gentle zingy grapefruit scent to wake you up in the morning and exfoliating fruit acids help to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin glowing and...

KOREAN BEAUTY It’s not for dogs…

KOREAN BEAUTY It’s not for dogs…

“Is it for dogs?” was my husband’s first question when I showed him this Homme Terrior* All In One product from Korea! Obviously the name shows more than a slight resemblance to a type of dog here in the UK, but it’s definitely a product for men! I am currently taking part in an initiative working with BNT News International, a global beauty/fashion/lifestyle and entertainment source based in Seoul, South Korea. I am helping BNT to promote a selection of new and exciting Korean beauty products to a UK audience, these are products that you probably won’t have seen before and some of them are really different and unique. You may have already seen some of my previous Korean beauty reviews, such as this post about 3CE Long Wear Eye Crayon. This Homme Terrior All In One reminds me a bit of an aftershave from the 1970s with its strong black bottle and golden lion on the lid. I was actually a bit surprised when I received it from...

Essential oils for the cold weather

Essential oils for the cold weather

I love the idea of aromatherapy and what it can achieve, being able to change your mood just by inhaling a couple of drops of plant oil, even being able to heal the body by performing a simple massage. Essential oils start from just a couple of pounds for the cheaper ones but you really need to be careful and make sure you buy good quality – some suppliers dilute their oils or take the oil from the wrong part of the plant in order to try and save costs. I’ve recently discovered Buff & Butter, suppliers of aromatherapy oils and candle-making supplies. Their 100% natural essential oils can be purchased in varying size bottles – ideal for both those who are just dipping their toe in the world of aromatherapy and practitioners who want to buy in bulk. I chose five essential oils that are ideal for the cold weather: Lavender – chances are you’ve heard about the therapeutic benefits of lavender oil already. It’s so versatile and I just...
