How to earn £100,000 from your blog

How to earn £100,000 from your blog

It may look like things have been pretty quiet here at Beauty Best Friend for the past few weeks, but actually big things are afoot! I’ve been taking Emma Drew’s Turn Your Dreams Into Money blogging course, and I have to say it’s really changed the way I look at blogging. I’ve been blogging for over 4 years now and whilst I know a little bit about lots of aspects of blogging I really wanted my blog to work a lot harder for me and…. well…. start earning me a bit of money. It sounds wrong to say it out loud. Ultimately I started writing Beauty Best Friend because I enjoy talking about make-up, but given all the time and effort that I put into it I thought it would be nice to start earning some real money from it. I’ve used affiliate links and Google AdSense for a good while now but never really put much thought into it and I’d only earned a few pounds here and...

Looking for an outstanding organic moisturiser with SPF?

Looking for an outstanding organic moisturiser with SPF?

Over the past year or so I’ve been trying to replace all of my everyday skincare and bodycare products with those that are more natural, choosing organic where I can. One area where I’ve struggled a bit is with moisturiser that contains an SPF, I always try to wear an SPF on my face, even in Winter. I have feint dark pigment marks around my eyes (these got worse when I was pregnant but have thankfully calmed down a lot now) and these get much darker when I’ve been in natural daylight. My old favourite moisturiser was Clarins HydraQuench Lotion which I reviewed back in 2013 and as much as it really suited my combination skin I felt it was time to look for something a bit more natural. It took quite a bit of searching to find something that I felt I was happy to try out, as there doesn’t seem to be a lot of natural moisturisers with SPF out there to choose from. Enter Green People Day...

Get inspired with Beauty Best Friend on Pinterest!

Get inspired with Beauty Best Friend on Pinterest!

So I’ve been an avid Pinterest user for quite a few years now, mainly bookmarking quirky craft projects, pretty tattoo designs, party ideas and the occasional cute cat photo (obvs). But since I started Beauty Best Friend I’ve also used it as inspiration for nail art, eye make-up, essential oil blends and lots more beauty and wellbeing uses.     There are literally millions of amazing images and useful articles out there on Pinterest just waiting to be found and I find that mindblowing! How often have I thought ‘Oh I’ll just spend 5 minutes on Pinterest looking for xyz’ and then an hour later I’ve gone off at a tangent and found all sorts of weird and wonderful images and articles that I’ve bookmarked for later?     Over the past few months I’ve pinned lots of my favourite Beauty Best Friend blog posts onto categorised Pinterest boards including My Best Make-up Blog Posts and My Best Bodycare Blog Posts. It’s a great way of seeing all of...

3 steps to firmer skin with luxurious new products from The Body Shop

3 steps to firmer skin with luxurious new products from The Body Shop

So I’ve got a review today about some products that I know you’re going to be very excited about. When I posted a sneak peek of these new products on Twitter a couple of weeks ago things went crazy and my tweet had more likes and retweets than any I’d ever posted before! It’s the brand new Firming Ritual from The Body Shop® Spa Of The World™ collection and it was only launched in shops on 18th July 2017. I really love the new collections that The Body Shop® have brought out over the past couple of years, one of my favourites is Oils Of Life that launched in 2015. There are 4 new products in the Firming Ritual collection and I’ve been trying them out for the past couple of weeks. The products have been designed around a luxurious three-step ritual to help firm and tone the skin and all the products contain fantastic ingredients that are well known to stimulate and refine those areas that need a...

Soft & Gentle bring out a new paraben free deodorant

Soft & Gentle bring out a new paraben free deodorant

You may have read some of the scary research recently that links parabens (a preservative ingredient found in loads of health and beauty products) with breast cancer, and whilst there is no evidence yet to prove that using parabens causes breast cancer more and more people are choosing to ditch parabens in favour of something more natural. I’m gradually trying to replace all of my old skincare and bodycare products with natural alternatives so that my body comes into contact with less parabens and other nasty chemicals. One of the types of products which seems to be very late to the natural table is deodorant, there isn’t a wide variety of paraben-free products available yet but I was really pleased to see that Soft & Gentle, a well-known household brand, had brought out this new 0% Aluminium Dry Deodorant. It’s free from parabens, allergens and aluminium and uses astringent plant extracts that shrink the sweat pores to reduce perspiration whilst natural herb sage acts as a deodoriser. Available in three...

What I got up to at the LUSH York reopening event

What I got up to at the LUSH York reopening event

LUSH is one of those brands that I’ve dabbled with but never really fully immersed myself in. I have to admit that I’m sometimes put off going into the stores by the strong scent that comes wafting out of the doors, and I’m not really a bath bomb fan either, which is kind of LUSH’s big thing. However I have read great reviews of loads of their products and they have great ethics when it comes to animal testing and using natural products – last year I reviewed a LUSH fresh facemask, Cosmetic Warrior, and it’s innovations like this that are totally different and where LUSH really stands out from its competitors. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the big reopening event of the LUSH store in York. The store had been closed for a few weeks while it was being refurbished and I was very excited to see the result. We were welcomed to the store with drinks and a welcome speech from the store manager....

Get firm skin with Trilogy Firming Body Lotion

Get firm skin with Trilogy Firming Body Lotion

It’s so important to know what you’re putting on your skin. Have you ever read the ingredient list of your favourite skincare product and wondered what everything is and what it does? When I’m choosing and purchasing my own skincare and bodycare products I always look for brands that contain natural or organic ingredients and Trilogy is one of those brands that I often choose. Voted New Zealand’s no 1 skincare brand the majority of their products are designed around rosehip, a super food for the skin that helps  cells to repair themselves. Trilogy Firming Body Lotion is a body moisturiser that helps to nourish, smooth and firm the skin and improve the skin’s natural elasticity. It contains rosehip, evening primrose (aids in the regeneration of skin cells) and caffeine (has a firming effect on the skin). I’ve been using Firming Body Lotion for 2 weeks now, applying it after a bath or shower. I find that the lotion leaves skin looking quite matt, but it does feel soft...

A facelift in a jar from Temple Spa

A facelift in a jar from Temple Spa

I’ve shared my feelings about Temple Spa before in my review of Repose Aromatherapy Resting Cream. Basically, my first experience was a very pushy salesperson at a wedding fair several years ago which really put me off the brand, and it took me a while to try their products again. But when I did I was really impressed, and I can honestly say that nothing I’ve reviewed since has disappointed me! Today I’m reviewing Temple Spa Trufflesque, an Ultra  Hydration & Radiance Masque for the face. Trufflesque aims to give hydration and radiance to the skin, and plumps to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s a luxury mask suitable for all skin types, particularly dry or dull skin, and it helps to rejuvenate tired skin too. The impressive list of ingredients includes black truffles, gold and silk peptides, but unfortunately these expensive additives contribute to Trufflesque’s slightly expensive price tag. The first thing that strikes me about this product is the amazing packaging. All Temple Spa products have...
